                                   BASKING BABIES

Picture
Hi there! Welcome to my Nana's website!
Definition of basking: To derive great satisfaction or pleasure

~Basking in the birth of your baby ~

~Your baby basking in the warmth of your skin~

This is what we all desire when we have a baby and I can assist you in achieving that!

Basking Babies offers education and support for

              birth, breastfeeding, baby, and beyond.

"Bottled Breastmilk for Basking Babies"
Angela will be offering this education on May 23 (Wednesday) from 4:45 PM - 6 PM in her Basking Babies office, which is at the Altoona Medicap. Participants receive the powerpoint presentation and several handouts, including some teaching tips.
CEUs/CERPs provided. More information on these sessions can be found on the IBC website: iabreastfeeding.org

Comment from OB supervisor:
"WOW I am still thinking of what an awesome class  that was presented to us at our "little" hospital. Top notch info and speakers. How lucky we are to have been given the opportunity! You have an absolute passion that sparks everyone in its path. Your dedication is fantastic. I look forward to our paths crossing again. Thank you for all you do!"

A little about Angela, RN, BSN, IBCLC, RLC, ICPE:
(Nurse, Lactation Consultant and Childbirth Educator from Central Iowa)

I am a wife of 36 years and a mother to three home-grown children. I have three grandchildren, one from each of my own babies and all born since mid-December 2010! Their pictures have come in handy for this website!  : )
I have worked as a nurse with parents and babies since 1977. I became an International Certified Postnatal Educator (ICPE) and an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) in 2003. I have also been certified through the Happiest Baby on the Block. I am an active member of the Polk County Breastfeeding Coalition and serve as the Membership Outreach Coordinator for the Iowa Breastfeeding Coalition (IBC). Iwrite the "Cures from the Cupboard" column for the IBC newsletter. I also serve on the Board for the International Childbirth Education Association. I have been teaching parents since 1988 and have been doing CEUs for health care professionals and speaking at clinics, the Stork Affair, and Des Moines University.

For fun, my husband and I like to camp in our camper trailer, or our slide-in camper if we are pulling the boat to go fishing. Photography is something I enjoy (you will see some of my work on this website) and is especially fun now that we have such beautiful grandbabies! We love game night or movie night in our home with all of our grown children, at least once a month. I spend many of my days in the summer and fall preserving food from our acreage: asparagus, beans, peas, corn, tomatoes, peaches, pears, plums, apples, and berries. This includes making and selling a little jam/apple butter and maybe even a few pies. We raise our own chickens (for both meat and eggs) and our beef and pork.  I like to make all our household bar and laundry soap and on nice spring and summer days will even hang clothes on the line to dry (including homemade cloth diapers when my babies were young)!!!
